El Salvador’s Bitcoin business ecosystem continues to expand and diversify, according to the Bitcoin Association of El Salvador (Asobitcoin). The organization, which launched with 10 founding members during the implementation of the Bitcoin Law, now includes more than 30 affiliated companies—many of them founded by Salvadoran entrepreneurs who entered the sector following the country’s adoption of Bitcoin (BTC).
Asobitcoin President Will Hernández explained that the association was created with support from the National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC) to unite the first companies in the industry and to protect the national ecosystem from fraudulent operators. “One of the main reasons was to prevent companies from coming to scam Salvadorans,” Hernández stated.
He noted that interest in El Salvador has increased significantly as the country strengthens its position as a center for financial innovation. Many companies have joined after learning about Asobitcoin’s work and the ecosystem’s visibility at international conferences. “They come to the country, get to know the rest of the ecosystem, and find opportunities to form alliances,” Hernández said.

The expansion is not limited to international firms. A growing number of Salvadorans have launched their own Bitcoin-related companies, contributing to the creation of a local knowledge base and entrepreneurial community. Examples include Ditobanx, founded in El Salvador and now active in several countries; Blink, originally the Bitcoin Beach wallet and now operating globally; and Sivar Wallet, which has expanded throughout the region. Other emerging companies include Bitcoin Life and Bitdriver.
This internal growth is supported by educational initiatives such as CUBO+, a program promoted by the ONBTC to train talent in development, infrastructure, and regulatory compliance. Hernández emphasized that while more training is still needed, new institutions and programs are already addressing the demand for specialized skills in the Bitcoin sector.
Asobitcoin also plays a key role in promoting El Salvador abroad. The association has represented the country at major international conferences in Miami, Nashville, Lugano, Prague, and Singapore, showcasing El Salvador as a destination for financial innovation and investment. “We always carry the message of ‘Visit El Salvador,’” Hernández said, highlighting strong interest from investors seeking to diversify their portfolios in Latin America.
Looking ahead, the association will participate in next week’s Bitcoin Histórico and Adopting Bitcoin events, where it will take part in panel discussions, airport outreach initiatives, and informational booths. These activities aim to connect visitors with companies and service providers within the national Bitcoin ecosystem.
Although the ecosystem is still in an early stage, Hernández believes its trajectory is clear: “We are emerging as a regional hub. The important thing is to continue developing Salvadoran talent so that the opportunities that come our way stay in the country.”
