El Salvador continues to position itself as a host for world-class events under President Nayib Bukele’s administration. This Saturday, November 8, football icons from Real Madrid Legends and FC Barcelona Legends will face off at the renovated Jorge “El Mágico” González Stadium in San Salvador.
During a press conference held this afternoon, players shared their excitement about visiting the country and participating in this unique event. “We arrived at the airport yesterday, and the welcome from the people was incredible. We came to El Salvador to enjoy,” said Yaya Touré from Barca Legends.
Carles Puyol also expressed his enthusiasm about reuniting with El Salvador’s football legend. “It will be a pleasure to play with him (‘El Mágico’ González). His talent is evident, and he will help us win,” said the former Barcelona captain.
Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas praised the country’s transformation and beauty. “I really like El Salvador—its beaches, its people. I attended the Surf City world event with Tourism Minister Morena Valdez, and I loved what is being done here,” he noted. Casillas added, “El Salvador has changed. It’s wonderful to enjoy such a beautiful place and such kind people during our stay.”
