El Salvador Achieves 1,035 Days Without Homicides

El Salvador has reached an unprecedented milestone of 1,035 days without homicides as of Thursday, October 16, according to national security authorities. This achievement underscores the effectiveness of President Nayib Bukele’s comprehensive public safety policies, including the Territorial Control Plan and the Exceptional Regime, which have transformed the country’s security landscape.

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security emphasized that this success is the result of coordinated efforts between the National Civil Police (PNC) and the Armed Forces of El Salvador, who work daily to safeguard the population and combat crime across the national territory.

Minister Gustavo Villatoro highlighted that this level of public safety reflects the government’s firm commitment to protecting Salvadorans and consolidating peace throughout the nation. For the 2026 National Budget, authorities expect to maintain this level of effectiveness, continuing to strengthen the country’s institutions and security infrastructure.

Thanks to these strategies, El Salvador is now recognized as the safest country in the Western Hemisphere, marking a historic turnaround from its past and positioning the nation as a model of effective governance and public security in Latin America. 🇸🇻
