El Salvador Travel announced that, at the request of the Honduran government, the distribution of water, ice cream, and handheld fans to Honduran citizens at the El Amatillo border has been suspended. The measure applies to Salvadoran officials and volunteers who usually welcome travelers crossing into the country during Semana Morazánica.
“Although we will not be able to offer these items at the border this year, Honduran visitors will still find a warm welcome in El Salvador,” the organization stated.
Authorities highlighted that tourists will have the opportunity to enjoy El Salvador’s beaches, volcanoes, parks, archaeological sites, and the Historic Center of San Salvador, all prepared to provide a complete Semana Morazánica experience.
