The United States reaffirmed its strong partnership with El Salvador during a meeting in New York between Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and Salvadoran Foreign Minister Alexandra Hill. Landau emphasized, “Of the many partnerships we’ve strengthened under the leadership of the President of The United States and Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, the one with El Salvador has made our region safer and stronger. We’ll continue to increase prosperity for our citizens and support our shared regional priorities such as returning stability to Haiti.”
The U.S. Embassy echoed this message, highlighting El Salvador’s role in advancing regional security. Hill noted that the discussions focused on the situation in Haiti, with Landau expressing interest in adapting El Salvador’s security model for that country. She stressed, “We agreed that El Salvador has positioned itself as the safest country in the Western Hemisphere. Our willingness to collaborate with the United States reflects a strong commitment to international cooperation and the exchange of best practices in security.”
The meeting also addressed opportunities for nearshoring, attracting private capital, and fostering the growth of technology companies in El Salvador, with U.S. officials reiterating their support for the country’s economic development.
