Salvadoran authorities announced the results of a significant drug seizure carried out 900 nautical miles southwest of El Cordoncillo inlet, Estero de Jaltepeque. Minister of Security Gustavo Villatoro, accompanied by Minister René Francis Merino Monroy and Attorney General Rodolfo Delgado, presented the operation as part of the country’s ongoing strategy against organized crime.
“This Salvadoran model, as President Nayib Bukele mentioned yesterday, is delivering tangible results of what a clear policy against these criminal organizations means,” said Minister Villatoro. He emphasized the role of the Navy and the coordination between the Attorney General’s Office, the Armed Forces, and the National Civil Police. “It is undeniable the work of our brave sailors and the coordination that the Bukele Model has implemented precisely to bring peace and tranquility, not only solving a national problem but also collaborating with other countries in this effective fight against drug trafficking.”
Villatoro stressed that the Salvadoran security approach has transformed the country. “Not less than six years ago we were on our knees at the mercy of terrorist organizations. Today, this recipe is what many Latin American countries need to deliver peace and security to their citizens.”
He also linked the nation’s progress in security to independence. “With much pride, independence, and sovereignty, we can say that today we are the only country in the Americas with the legal tools to confront these criminal organizations and defeat them with the determination and courage that President Bukele inspires, supported by the Salvadoran people.”
