El Salvador will once again host the Surf City ISA World Surfing Games, set for September 5–14, 2025, at La Bocana and El Sunzal beaches. The event will gather athletes from 61 countries, including 22 Olympians, reinforcing the nation’s growing reputation as a global surfing hub.
ISA President Fernando Aguerre highlighted the scale of the competition, stating, “We will have 61 countries, an extremely high participation. More than 550 visitors are expected, including 291 athletes.” He also noted the debut of teams from Vanuatu and Angola.
Tourism Minister Morena Valdez emphasized the impact on the country, saying, “For us it is a pride to once again host a championship led by the ISA. This alliance has changed the lives of many Salvadorans and athletes.”
Salvadoran surfer Bryan Pérez, one of the nation’s top athletes, expressed his excitement: “It is always an honor to represent El Salvador at home and share our incredible waves.”
The competition is expected to boost tourism and showcase El Salvador’s beaches and safe environment, as the country continues to position itself as a world-class surfing destination.
