Love for the Homeland: El Salvador Introduces ‘Civic Mondays’ to Strengthen Patriotism in Schools

President Nayib Bukele announced the launch of “Civic Mondays” in schools across El Salvador, following directives from Education Minister Karla E. Trigueros. The program will begin on Monday, September 1, 2025, aiming to foster love for the homeland, national values, and civic responsibility among students and teachers.

President Bukele emphasized that the initiative is designed to reinforce patriotism and national identity, stating it cultivates “amor a la patria.” Each Monday, schools will start the day with activities focused on strengthening discipline, civic engagement, and respect for Salvadoran traditions.

The introduction of “Civic Mondays” reflects a national commitment to developing responsible and proud citizens, combining academic education with civic and ethical values throughout the country’s schools.
