El Salvador to Host Regional Wedding Planners Summit, Strengthening Local Economy.

In 2024, the global wedding services market generated more than $899.6 billion, with destination weddings emerging as a dominant trend. Building on this momentum, El Salvador has secured the hosting rights for the 2026 Wedding Events Summit, a regional gathering of wedding planners aimed at strengthening connections among industry providers and positioning the country as a top destination for celebrations.

Tourism Minister Morena Valdez explained that the initiative to bring the summit to El Salvador came directly from industry professionals, who later sought support from the Salvadoran Tourism Corporation (Corsatur) to coordinate the event. “This is what is happening to El Salvador. People are now seeking out our country, they come to us saying they want to do things here and asking how we can support them to make it easier. They organize it themselves, and it becomes an economic dynamic among private actors,” Valdez said.

The wedding industry spans multiple sectors, including gastronomy, lodging, transportation, fashion, beverages, and floral design. Hosting the summit is expected to boost these areas and further strengthen El Salvador’s reputation as a rising destination for international weddings.
