The Government of El Salvador, through the Salvadoran Agency for International Cooperation (ESCO) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has officially opened the application process for its new scholarship program aimed at Salvadoran youth interested in pursuing agricultural careers. The scholarships will allow students to study at the prestigious Pan-American Agricultural School, also known as Zamorano University, in Honduras.
This initiative is part of the national strategy to promote sustainable development in a sector that is critical to El Salvador’s economic, social, and environmental progress. The program offers both full and partial scholarships for young Salvadorans with a calling in forestry, agriculture, and related sciences. The fields of study include agribusiness, agroindustry, environment and development, and agronomy.

Full scholarships will cover the total cost of the four-year academic program, which includes tuition, housing, meals, medical insurance, and other benefits.
To encourage participation, ESCO is organizing outreach events in schools across several departments of the country. These sessions aim to inform students currently in high school about the requirements and application process, while also providing guidance to those interested in applying.
The first outreach event was held at the “14 de julio de 1875” National Institute in San Francisco Gotera, Morazán. It was led by ESCO Director Karla de Palma, Interim Executive Director of the Technical Secretariat for External Financing (SETEFE) Óscar Figueroa, and Zamorano University representative Johana Oporta.

“We want to ensure that young people from all over El Salvador are aware of this opportunity and are supported throughout the process,” said de Palma during the event.
