First Lady Gabriela de Bukele Visits Morocco to Strengthen Early Childhood Cooperation.

In a significant step toward international cooperation, the First Lady of El Salvador, Gabriela de Bukele, has begun an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco, with Early Childhood development at the center of her diplomatic agenda. The visit follows a formal invitation from Her Royal Highness, Humanitarian Princess Lalla Asmaa.

Upon her arrival at the Rabat-Salé International Airport on Sunday, July 27, First Lady Gabriela de Bukele was welcomed with an official reception by Princess Lalla Asmaa, a prominent advocate for children’s rights and social inclusion in Morocco. This high-level encounter aims to strengthen bilateral relations and exchange experiences in health, education, and family-focused tourism.

The Salvadoran delegation includes key members from the Office of the First Lady: Alexandra Posada, Head of Early Childhood; Elisa Gamero, Head of Health and Nutrition Projects; and Marianna Montes, Head of International Affairs and Cooperation.

During the visit, First Lady Bukele will tour the Lalla Asmaa Foundation’s Hearing Diagnostic and Rehabilitation Center, a national leader in comprehensive care for children with hearing impairments. Founded in 1995 under the leadership of Princess Lalla Asmaa, the foundation exemplifies Morocco’s longstanding commitment to inclusive education, health, and family rehabilitation.

The official agenda also includes bilateral meetings with Moroccan authorities. Notably, the First Lady will meet with Naima Ben Yahia, Morocco’s Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family Affairs, to discuss integrated public policies focused on early childhood, social inclusion, and community cohesion.

Both El Salvador and Morocco have prioritized early childhood as a foundation for national development. Since 2018, Morocco has incorporated this focus into the third phase of its National Initiative for Human Development (NHRD), aligning with El Salvador’s own strategies to advance early childhood care through comprehensive, multisectoral programs.

This visit underscores El Salvador’s growing role in international dialogues on childhood development and reflects the nation’s commitment to building global partnerships for the well-being of future generations.
