El Salvador Offers Free Roadside Assistance for Tourists and Visitors During August Holidays.

In preparation for the August holiday season, the Government of El Salvador has officially launched the “MOP Assists You” (MOP Te Asiste) roadside assistance plan, a nationwide initiative that offers free 24/7 towing and emergency vehicle support to all drivers, including foreign tourists.

The announcement was made this Monday by the Minister of Public Works, Romeo Rodríguez, and the Deputy Minister of Transportation, Nelson Reyes. The program will run from July 28 through August 10, providing timely assistance to ensure safe mobility across the country during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

Authorities explained that to access the service, drivers must present valid vehicle documentation and must not be under the influence of alcohol. Assistance can be requested by calling the dedicated emergency line: 2510-0199.

The “MOP Assists You” plan includes support for a wide range of common road incidents, including mechanical failures, traffic accidents, flat tires, lost keys, fuel shortages, and lack of spare tires. The initiative, which has become a regular part of El Salvador’s holiday safety strategy, is designed to reduce risks and promote safer travel for both locals and international visitors.

Minister Rodríguez emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to road safety: “Our goal is to ensure that every family and traveler in El Salvador can enjoy the holidays with peace of mind and prompt support in case of any incident.”
