New Attractions and Events Await Visitors at El Salvador’s National Parks.

Eny Aguinada, president of ISTU, shared in an interview, the efforts to create healthy recreation spaces for Salvadoran families, especially during the Fiestas Julias in Santa Ana.

“On Sunday the 20th, we’ll have various activities at Sihuatehuacán Park, including our first freestyle event with many young participants already registered,” she said. She also mentioned a weekend fair at Cerro Verde Park with programs for children and entrepreneurs.

“For August vacations, we’re ready to welcome large numbers of visitors at all our parks,” Aguinada added, highlighting the growing popularity of destinations like Apulo and Balboa Park.

ISTU manages 17 parks and will soon open a tourist terminal in San Sebastián, featuring traditional loom products. Aguinada credited the rise in tourism to improved national security under President Bukele.

ISTU has also upgraded its transportation: “Our new buses have comfortable seating, A/C, restrooms, and even movies for longer routes.” Routes now include beaches like El Espino and Barra de Santiago, as well as combined trips to places like El Tazumal and Sihuatehuacán.

“Los Chorros Park remains open despite ongoing construction,” she clarified, inviting families to use ISTU’s Buses Alegres, which depart each Sunday from the Children’s Amusement Park.
