‘Impressive and Full of Potential’: Executive from Global Architecture Firm Gensler Praises Renewal of San Salvador’s Historic Center.

El Salvador continues its ambitious transformation of San Salvador’s Historic Center, aiming to turn it into a regional model of urban development. On the evening of July 14, a delegation from the global firm Gensler Architecture, Design & Planning, P.C., led by its co-regional manager for Latin America, Christian Wolff, toured the newly renovated spaces.

Wolff was joined by Adriana Larín, director of the Historic Center Authority, and Luis Rodríguez, head of the COAMSS/OPAMSS, as they walked through emblematic areas already revitalized as part of the ongoing urban renewal strategy.

“Few cities in Latin America have the opportunity to preserve and transform a historic core like this. It’s impressive — the potential here is incredible. Tomorrow we’ll be meeting with other key players in this ecosystem, including developers and the private sector, to talk about the future of cities and what makes them impactful and vibrant,” said Wolff.

El Salvador’s efforts to modernize and reclaim public space in its capital continue to receive international recognition, marking a new chapter in the country’s approach to sustainable urban planning.
