El Salvador, under President Nayib Bukele, has become the first nation worldwide to secure a sovereign quote for Nvidia’s cutting-edge Blackwell Ultra B300 artificial intelligence chips, Bloomberg Línea reports.
In a historic agreement with Nvidia—facilitated through a partnership with Hydra Host—El Salvador ensures early access to the new B300 processors, which are not yet available to the broader global market These chips, equipped with 288 GB of HBM3e memory and boasting performance up to 50% higher than their predecessors, are designed for advanced generative AI and large-scale reasoning.

The deal was announced following a meeting between Bukele and Hydra Host co‑founder Aaron Ginn, known as the “GPU Whisperer.” The chips are expected to power El Salvador’s forthcoming National Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, signaling the government’s aim to build sovereign AI infrastructure, enhance cybersecurity, and strengthen digital autonomy.
This strategic acquisition aligns with the country’s broader digital transformation agenda, which includes the CUBO_ai education program and efforts to integrate AI into public services, healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
As Bloomberg Línea notes, while the sovereign quotation does not yet represent an immediate purchase, it prioritizes El Salvador in the order queue as Nvidia begins production after September.
