Centroamérica Shuttle Launches New Route Connecting Surf City, El Salvador with Antigua Guatemala.
El Salvador and Guatemala have taken a significant step toward regional tourism integration with the official launch of Centroamérica Shuttle, a new tourist transportation service connecting Surf City with Antigua Guatemala. The initiative is led by the Salvadoran Chamber of Tourism (Casatur) and the Guatemalan Chamber of Tourism (Camtur), with the support of El Salvador’s Ministry of Tourism and the Central American Tourism Promotion Agency (CATA).
Operating Monday through Saturday, the shuttle departs at 6:00 a.m. from both destinations, offering travelers a safe, comfortable, and time-efficient connection between two of Central America’s most popular tourist hotspots. The service links Antigua Guatemala with the renowned beaches of El Tunco, El Zonte, El Sunzal, and Mizata—all part of Surf City 1, El Salvador’s flagship coastal development.
“We are very excited to see this project come to fruition,” said Carlos Umaña, president of Casatur. “This connection meets the growing demand for reliable, cross-border travel between vibrant destinations in the region.”
Tickets are priced at $49 one-way and are available at centroamericashuttle.com and select retailers. Each vehicle is equipped with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, ergonomic seating, and specialized racks for surfboards—at no extra cost—ensuring a premium experience for all passengers.
“This project strengthens the relationship between our nations and promotes intraregional and multi-destination tourism,” stated Tourism Minister Morena Valdez.
CATA representative Denis Alvarado emphasized the importance of initiatives like these to diversify travel options in Central America. “As an agency, we will continue to support efforts that increase regional mobility and tourism appeal,” he said.
With experienced operators at the helm, Centroamérica Shuttle sets a new benchmark in international tourist ground transportation, reinforcing El Salvador’s growing reputation as a key regional hub for adventure, surf, and cultural travel.
