Diaspora in Maryland and Virginia Welcomes Pension Service Initiative from El Salvador.

In an effort to bring essential programs closer to Salvadorans living abroad, the Consulates of El Salvador in Silver Spring, Maryland and Woodbridge, Virginia held informational sessions on pension services from May 5 to 8, 2025.

Supported by AFP Confía, the sessions allowed attendees to update their personal information with the pension fund administrator, enabling them to access their account statements, employment history, and obtain membership cards.

This initiative was made possible through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, via the Directorate of Diaspora and Development, and with the collaboration of the General Consulates of El Salvador in Silver Spring and Woodbridge. AFP Confía provided direct assistance during the event.

Participants expressed appreciation for the effort. “These sessions are really helpful. We finally have a chance to manage our pensions without traveling to El Salvador,” said one attendee.

The service is free of charge, requires no appointment, and only asks that individuals present a valid DUI or passport.

Similar efforts have also been carried out recently at Salvadoran consulates in Dallas and Houston, Texas; Los Angeles, California; and Las Vegas, Nevada.
