With the goal of promoting Salvadoran coffee and responding to increasing demand in Uruguay, the Embassy of El Salvador participated in the 2025 Cottage Coffee Festival recently held in Montevideo.

The embassy’s presence was a highlight of the event, thanks in part to the support of Marcelo Alas, El Salvador’s Honorary Consul in Paraguay and a well-known coffee entrepreneur with experience in importing to the Mercosur region. His involvement played a key role in raising the profile of Salvadoran coffee during the festival.
The event brought together over a dozen exhibitors and attracted nearly 500 attendees, including café and restaurant owners as well as general coffee enthusiasts. It also featured professional baristas who competed in Latte Art and Aeropress brewing contests. The festival served as a prelude to the upcoming Expo Café scheduled for September 2025, offering an ideal platform to boost visibility for the “Café de El Salvador” nation brand.

Ambassador Astrid Moreno emphasized the growing presence of Salvadoran coffee in Uruguay. “Coffee has transcended borders as a bridge between cultures and traditions, connecting people from different backgrounds through the shared experience of its consumption,” she said.

To continue promotional efforts, the embassy also hosted a Salvadoran coffee tasting at its headquarters. This event targeted a more specific audience, including Salvadoran coffee entrepreneurs living in Uruguay, café owners, and others interested in learning about the quality of Salvadoran beans.
The tasting featured a range of Salvadoran coffee profiles, along with advisory sessions and practical demonstrations on brewing methods and packaging techniques for roasted coffee sales.
Together, El Salvador’s participation in the festival and the organization of the tasting event mark significant steps in positioning its coffee in the Uruguayan market and building meaningful connections with key industry players.
