Under the leadership of President Nayib Bukele, El Salvador has officially ratified the International Labour Organization’s Convention 190, a global treaty aimed at eradicating violence and harassment in the workplace, including gender-based violence. The announcement was made public via a post on X by the official account @PrensaMiTrabajo and confirmed by Minister of Labor Rolando Castro.

This ratification marks a significant step in El Salvador’s commitment to promoting safe, dignified, and equitable labor conditions. Convention 190 sets international standards to protect workers from abuse, ensuring a work environment free from discrimination and harassment.
In line with this initiative, the Ministry of Labor has also launched the SOS Trabajadoras platform, accessible at sostrabajadoras.mtps.gob.sv. This digital resource is designed to support women in the workforce, offering tools such as job placement services, access to labor market information, and assistance for workplace-related concerns.
Thousands of women across all 14 departments of El Salvador have already benefited from the platform, reflecting the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance labor rights and empower female workers nationwide.
El Salvador continues to position itself as a leader in labor protection and gender equality in Latin America, reinforcing its dedication to inclusive and sustainable development.
