As part of ongoing efforts to promote Salvadoran identity and traditions abroad, the Embassy of El Salvador in Vietnam hosted the “Gastronomic and Cultural Workshop II: Traditional Dishes of El Salvador.”
The initiative, which supports the Public Diplomacy strategy of El Salvador’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was organized in collaboration with the Spanish Department at Hanoi University.

Aimed at bringing Vietnamese students closer to Salvadoran culture through its cuisine, the workshop focused on preparing two iconic dishes: fried yuca and the colorful “elotes locos.” Over 30 young participants took part in the hands-on cooking session, learning every step of the process — from gathering ingredients to final presentation.

Attendees had the chance to taste their own culinary creations, enriching both their cultural and language learning through this interactive experience.
The workshop is also part of the students’ preparation for the annual Hispanic Countries Cultural Day, where the dishes learned will be presented as a representation of El Salvador’s rich gastronomic heritage.

“With initiatives like this, we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening the bonds of friendship between El Salvador and Vietnam,” said Omar Orozco, El Salvador’s ambassador to Vietnam, who presided over the event. “It’s a celebration of cultural exchange and a tribute to the diversity of our national cuisine.”
