From Two Hours to Ten Minutes: Faster Border Crossing Delights Travelers at El Amatillo.

As part of El Salvador’s ongoing efforts to support citizens abroad, the country’s diplomatic and consular offices in Honduras continued their work during the holiday season to ensure efficient movement at border crossings.

In this context, the Salvadoran Ambassador to Honduras, Jorge Umaña, and the Consul General in Choluteca, Ramón Ventura, visited the El Amatillo border crossing between El Salvador and Honduras to observe the quality of service offered to Salvadoran travelers and Honduran tourists.

“During this visit, we verified the significant flow of Salvadoran nationals and Honduran tourists crossing the border for Holy Week vacations, taking advantage of the attractions offered by both countries,” said Ambassador Umaña.

He reported that both entry and exit procedures are operating smoothly and efficiently, a situation appreciated by vacationers, as confirmed by the Salvadoran officials.

“On the Salvadoran side, service has always been quick and friendly, around two to three minutes. But we’re happy to see that Honduras has also greatly improved—what used to take two to three hours now takes just 10 minutes. The process is fast on both sides,” said Nelson López, a Honduran visitor coming to enjoy the attractions and safety of El Salvador.

During this season, the Salvadoran Embassy and consular network in Honduras remain fully active and ready to assist Salvadorans with any needs that may arise during their holiday travel.

For assistance, Salvadorans can contact the Virtual Consulate at +503 7070 1071, or in Honduras: San Pedro Sula at +504 3163 3704; Choluteca at +504 3300 5195; and Tegucigalpa at +504 3157 3993.
