Pacific Seafoods Recruits Salvadorans for U.S. Seafood Processing Jobs.

As part of efforts to promote orderly and legal migration, the Government of El Salvador, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, continues to support its Labor Mobility Program in coordination with the United States. This week, representatives from U.S.-based Pacific Seafoods visited the country to recruit Salvadorans for positions in seafood processing.

The recruitment was organized with United Work and Travel, following a partnership signed in August 2024. Elsy Vásquez, Director of Diaspora and Development, highlighted the importance of such initiatives. “These opportunities allow Salvadorans to work abroad safely and legally, so they can return and support their families and personal growth,” she said.

A total of 160 candidates were interviewed, having already passed the first phase of selection. The event included an informational session outlining job duties and requirements. Vásquez also emphasized that all opportunities provided by the Ministry are free of charge, with no intermediaries or hidden fees.

“The Government of El Salvador has facilitated 15,500 legal job placements abroad,” Vásquez noted. “We’re grateful to U.S. companies that trust this initiative.”

Marvin Castro, a candidate from La Libertad, said, “I thank the Government for opening these doors of blessing for our people.” Tania Alvarado, also applying, added, “Now we can return home and invest in a better life for our families, instead of risking irregular migration.”
