The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador has inaugurated new facilities for the General Consulate in Plainview, New York, aimed at offering more efficient and timely services to the Salvadoran community residing in the area. The newly relocated consulate office is designed to provide all necessary conditions for optimal assistance to citizens living abroad.

The opening ceremony was led by the Vice Minister of Diaspora and Human Mobility, Cindy Mariella Portal, who emphasized that this action aligns with President Nayib Bukele’s mandate to provide better services and high-quality attention to compatriots overseas.
“We are working for our people, seeking innovative, novel, and practical solutions to address their needs,” said the Foreign Ministry official during the event held at the new consular office.

Portal explained that the relocation would benefit more than 250,000 Salvadorans living within the jurisdiction of this consulate, which will be located at 111 Express St. Plainview, NY 11803.
“Our brothers and sisters deserve this, and we are very happy with this new face. Moreover, we are optimizing resources since these facilities now belong to our State, meaning they are for all Salvadorans residing in this city,” stated Vice Minister Portal.

The new office will provide more space, allowing for higher quality services to the diaspora, including passport processing, power of attorney, administrative documents, family status registrations, and other services that will be expanded.
Additionally, the new location will host various community activities such as cultural events, training for entrepreneurship, health, education, and more.
In this regard, Portal reaffirmed the commitment to offering both high-quality and warm services to the Salvadoran community, as well as fostering stronger ties with their homeland through cultural, commercial, and investment attraction initiatives, which are priorities for the government.

The consulate will also continue to offer extraordinary office hours and mobile consulates, activities designed to provide services during extended hours and reach more Salvadorans living in the area.
The event was attended by the Consul General of El Salvador in Plainview, New York, Federico Guerrero, as well as special guests and members of the Salvadoran community.
