El Salvador continues its efforts to streamline public administration by reducing bureaucracy and improving efficiency in institutional processes. Today, the Regulatory Improvement Agency (OMR) delivered registration certificates for various procedures under the Vice Ministry of Transportation (VMT), marking another step toward modernization.
Minister of Public Works, Romeo Herrera, highlighted the government’s commitment to digital transformation. “The Government of President Nayib Bukele is committed to reducing bureaucracy in institutions like the VMT. Many procedures had been cumbersome, and some were not yet digitized,” he stated.
The initiative aims to accelerate response times and improve service quality for Salvadoran citizens. “This translates into more time to respond to users. Now, with these improvements, although there is still much work to do, we are digitizing procedures,” Minister Herrera added.
Among the certified processes are key transportation-related services, including the authorization of hazardous materials transport, vehicle capacity certifications for cargo transport, single box registration, and requests for economic compensations in public transport. Other procedures include requests for urine and saliva drug tests, cargo transport registration, special transport permits, and certification of public passenger transport services. “These certifications represent a commitment to providing better service to users,” emphasized Minister Herrera.
The government’s ultimate goal is to achieve full digitalization of the VMT’s processes. “These are just some of the procedures, but the idea is to have the VMT 100% digitized,” Herrera affirmed.
With these reforms, El Salvador continues its efforts to modernize public administration, ensuring greater efficiency and accessibility for its citizens.
