El Salvador Joins the First Regional Meeting of the Mesoamerica Project 2025.

The Embassy of El Salvador in Guatemala participated in the First Regional Meeting of the Mesoamerica Project 2025, held in Guatemala City. Ambassador Hugo Rodríguez Cardoza represented El Salvador in discussions on energy, risk management, and private sector collaboration.

The Pro Tempore Presidency for January–June 2025 will prioritize energy initiatives, including electromobility, energy efficiency, electrical interconnection, and biofuels. It will also strengthen disaster risk management through training programs and the dissemination of Guatemala’s Complementary Report on the Sendai Framework. Additionally, the Mesoamerican Business Council (CEM) will coordinate with CACIF to promote regional economic actions.

The meeting was led by Guatemala’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with participation from Mexico as the Permanent President of the Mesoamerica Project, along with representatives from Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and the Dominican Republic. Regional financial and development institutions, including the IDB, CAF, BCIE, ECLAC, PAHO, SG-SICA, and SIECA, were also present.

The IDB shared its 2024 progress on the America in the Center program, while PAHO signed a cooperation agreement to support the Mesoamerican Public Health System (SMSP). The Mesoamerica Project continues to foster regional integration, strengthening infrastructure, connectivity, and social development among its member nations.
