Government of El Salvador Accelerates Slope Mitigation Efforts Across the Country.

The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has intervened in over 70 slopes as part of the Mitigation Plan 2025, a nationwide initiative aimed at enhancing infrastructure safety. Minister Romeo Rodríguez detailed the progress during an interview on Noticiero El Salvador this Thursday, stating that a total of 105 slopes will be worked on under the plan.

According to Rodríguez, 72 slopes have already been stabilized with an investment of $19.5 million, funded in part by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). «At the national level, we are working on more than 105 slopes, and we have completed 72 so far. Thanks to these efforts, drivers and families living near these areas are now safer,» he stated.

The plan includes interventions in key areas such as the Comalapa Highway (29 slopes), the road to Puerto de La Libertad (17 slopes), and the Quintas Doradas residential area (11 slopes). Other locations benefiting from the project include the La Lechuza ravine, El Poy border, Azacualpa sector, and kilometer 14 of the Oro Highway in Apopa.

Rodríguez emphasized that the current administration has significantly accelerated infrastructure improvements compared to previous governments. «The Government of President Nayib Bukele is working around the clock to deliver solutions to Salvadoran families. This year alone, we are executing more projects than in past years,» he concluded.

The Mitigation Plan 2025 reflects the government’s commitment to infrastructure resilience and public safety, ensuring better road conditions and protection for communities across the country.
