A delegation of Turkish businessmen recently visited El Salvador to explore the unique qualities of Salvadoran coffee, leaving with a strong interest in purchasing the product. Hosted by the Salvadoran Coffee Institute (ISC), the delegation was introduced to the country’s diverse coffee varieties and potential export opportunities.

During their visit, the businessmen, accompanied by Turkish Ambassador to El Salvador, Gül Büyükerşen, participated in a coffee tasting session and toured the Experimental Station and the Garden of Coffee Varieties. These activities provided them with a comprehensive experience of Salvadoran coffee’s distinctive flavors, versatility, and production processes.

One of the delegation members, Derya Demir, expressed his enthusiasm after sampling the coffee. “I am very happy to have tried this coffee; it is a very unique variety. At least two of these flavors were completely new to me. I am very impressed, and we will be discussing the business details of how to obtain this coffee, especially from the region of El Salvador,” he stated.

ISC Director Mauricio Sansivarini emphasized the importance of this visit as a first step in establishing trade relations with Turkish buyers. “This is our first approach with these businessmen from Turkey. The next step, which we have already planned, is to send samples that meet the technical and organoleptic specifications they require for their markets,” he said.

The ISC official also highlighted the high quality of Salvadoran coffee and its strong reputation in international markets. With this initial engagement, the country looks forward to expanding its reach and securing new business opportunities in Turkey.
