This morning, Minister of Defense @merino_monroy participated in the second part of an interview on @dialogo21, where he shared updates on the work of the @FUERZARMADASV in protecting the Salvadoran population.
Minister Monroy highlighted the significant progress in eliminating drug trafficking from El Salvador’s territorial sea, with operations now being carried out in international waters. He noted that these missions often involve support from allied countries, but in some cases, the operations are led solely by Salvadoran forces. He specifically mentioned the role of the Trident Naval Task Force, a highly skilled unit of naval special forces with the ability to conduct interdiction operations on the high seas.

The Minister also stressed the importance of maintaining proper procedures during drug seizures, ensuring the correct treatment of drug traffickers, preservation of evidence, and proper management of the chain of custody. This process involves collaboration with the @FGR_SV and the @PNCSV.
During the interview, Monroy discussed the ongoing challenges in security operations but emphasized the positive effects of the #PlanControlTerritorial. He explained that the presence of gang members on the streets has significantly decreased, contributing to greater tranquility in communities across the country.

Furthermore, Minister Monroy assured the public that the recruitment process for the @FUERZARMADASV continues in compliance with the law and reiterated the Ministry’s ongoing support for the @PNCSV in their security efforts.
He concluded by urging the Salvadoran people to continue reporting suspicious activities, reaffirming that both the @FUERZARMADASV and @PNCSV are committed to responding to public concerns and delivering tangible results.
