El Salvador Registers Over 6,500 New Companies in One Year, Boosting Economic Growth.

The National Registry Center (CNR) reported a remarkable increase in business registrations in El Salvador, with more than 6,500 new companies registered between January 2024 and January 2025. This marks a growth of over 35% compared to the previous year, which saw 4,200 new companies. The surge in new company registrations is being hailed as a sign of economic vitality and a growing entrepreneurial spirit in the country.

Camilo Trigueros, the Executive Director of the CNR, explained that January 2025 alone accounted for over 500 new businesses, making it the best month in the institution’s history. «The increase in new companies shows that both national and foreign entrepreneurs are betting on El Salvador as an ideal place to invest,» he said.

The services sector has seen the most significant growth in new registrations, with notable increases in the gastronomic, tourism, and construction industries. «Salvadorans are investing in El Salvador again because they know that now they will no longer have to pay rent, but it will be all for their business,» Trigueros added. This reflects the confidence of local and international investors in the country’s economic potential.

In addition to the growth in business registrations, Trigueros highlighted the success of Simplified Joint Stock Companies (SAS), which were launched in February 2024. As of January 2025, 2,433 SAS companies have been registered, with 35% of them incorporated online and 65% in person. The total share capital for all newly registered SAS companies amounts to over $5.5 million.

San Salvador remains the leading department for new SAS registrations, accounting for 63.3% of the total, followed by La Libertad with 17.2%, San Miguel with 5.1%, and Santa Ana with 4.1%.

Looking ahead, Trigueros expects the trend of growth and investment to continue throughout 2025, contributing significantly to the country’s economic development.
