Salvadoran Coffee Industry Expands, Eyes New Horizons in Argentina and Paraguay.

El Salvador took center stage at “An Afternoon with Salvadoran Coffee”, an event organized by the Salvadoran Embassy in Argentina in collaboration with national companies Benito Coffee Roasters and Centraka. The gathering brought together members of the Salvadoran community, business leaders, and coffee enthusiasts to celebrate the quality and tradition of El Salvador’s most emblematic crop.

The event was held at Benito Coffee Roasters, a specialty coffee roastery founded by Salvadorans Jonathan Rivas and Edgar Magaña, which is quickly becoming a key player in Argentina’s specialty coffee scene.

This occasion also served as the official pre-launch of the brand, featuring a coffee tasting with beans from L’Étranger, produced by Salvadoran grower Ernesto Samayoa. Among the participants were Salvadoran Ambassador to Argentina, Miriam Elena Mena Gallardo, and industry entrepreneurs.

“This event was not only an opportunity to showcase our flagship coffee but also to promote the entrepreneurial ventures of our diaspora in Argentina and Paraguay. It created a space to strengthen ties between the Salvadoran community and our country’s rich coffee culture,” stated Ambassador Mena Gallardo during her speech.

The evening also featured traditional Salvadoran pastries, including semita, peperecha, and quesadilla, provided by Andrea Montano and Audiel Ávalos of Centraka, adding a delicious cultural touch to the experience.

After the tasting, the event opened to the public with a coffee sampling session, where attendees could enjoy Salvadoran coffee brewed using different filtration methods, including cold brew, highlighting its versatility and exceptional quality.

Beyond showcasing Salvadoran coffee in Argentina’s competitive market, the event also amplified the visibility of businesses led by the Salvadoran diaspora. Additionally, Benito Coffee Roasters announced its upcoming expansion into Asunción, Paraguay, furthering its mission to bring Salvadoran coffee to new horizons.

The gathering reinforced that Salvadoran coffee is not just a premium product but also a powerful symbol of identity and pride for the diaspora in Argentina and beyond.
