The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, through its development agency Lux Dev, has inaugurated its new operational headquarters in San Salvador, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with El Salvador.
The opening ceremony was attended by Lux Dev Director Manuel Tonar, Resident Representative Frank Wolff, Program Officer Thierry Girard, El Salvador’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Adriana Mira, and the Director of the Salvadoran Agency for International Cooperation (ESCO), Karla de Palma.

“This new office reflects our continued commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and collaborating on joint initiatives that benefit the Salvadoran population. This is an example of active cooperation and demonstrates the strong relationship we maintain with Luxembourg,” stated Vice Minister Mira.
During her speech, Vice Minister Mira highlighted Luxembourg’s support for youth self-employment initiatives, which have received €7.5 million in funding. Additionally, she emphasized the strengthening of South-South and Triangular Cooperation, an area supported with €2 million.

“This office opening marks the culmination of continuous efforts and a decision to establish a permanent presence in El Salvador. We are very pleased because this signifies future work plans and ongoing collaboration,” Mira added.

ESCO Director Karla de Palma underscored Luxembourg’s contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in strengthening the Hospital El Salvador. She also emphasized the importance of ongoing projects aimed at youth development. “ESCO remains committed to supporting and collaborating on initiatives aligned with national priorities,” she affirmed.
Frank Wolff, Lux Dev’s resident representative, reiterated Luxembourg’s support for El Salvador and expressed gratitude to government entities for their joint efforts.
The event was attended by members of the diplomatic corps, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ESCO, as well as special guests.
