Chicago and San Salvador to Be Connected with New Direct Flights.

Avianca has announced the launch of a new seasonal route connecting San Salvador and Chicago, set to begin operations on June 3, 2025. This initiative is part of the airline’s strategy to expand connections for its customers, particularly during high travel seasons.

The airline confirmed that the route will be served by Airbus A320 aircraft, each with a capacity of 180 passengers. Avianca will offer three weekly flights—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays—providing a total of 1,080 seats per week for travelers flying directly between El Salvador International Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

Flights from San Salvador will depart at 10:25 AM, while flights from Chicago will take off at 5:25 PM on the same days.

Rolando Damas, Avianca’s Sales Director for North America, Central America, Europe, and the Caribbean, highlighted the significance of this new route, emphasizing its benefits not only for Salvadorans but also for travelers across Central America.

“We are extremely excited to reopen a direct connection to one of the most important economic, cultural, and tourist hubs in the United States,” said Damas.

This expansion further strengthens Avianca’s presence in the U.S. market, adding to its existing 13 direct routes between San Salvador and various U.S. cities.

Customers can book tickets through avianca.com, the airline’s mobile app, physical sales offices, and travel agencies.
