Vice President Ulloa Meets with Philip Morris CEO to Strengthen Technology and Connectivity in El Salvador.

In a productive meeting held in Lausanne, Switzerland, Vice President Félix Ulloa met with Jacek Olczak, CEO of Philip Morris International (PMI), to discuss the transformation of El Salvador’s technology and public administration. The CEO shared how PMI has integrated science and technology to revolutionize its processes, offering valuable insights for the country.

Through their collaboration, PMI has significantly improved connectivity in El Salvador by installing internet antennas in 40 parks and public spaces across 13 departments, providing free internet access to Salvadorans. Additionally, the partnership has launched digital entrepreneurship internships aimed at fostering innovation and economic growth.

As part of the ongoing efforts, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Secretariat of Innovation, focusing on enhancing digital infrastructure and promoting entrepreneurship. PMI also continues to work closely with the Ministry of Security in combating illicit trade using advanced technologies while prioritizing sustainability and community engagement.

This collaboration marks a major step forward in El Salvador’s digital transformation, benefiting the country’s citizens and reinforcing its commitment to innovation and sustainable development.
