El Salvador and the Bahamas Strengthen Air Transport and Tourism Ties.

El Salvador and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas have taken a significant step toward strengthening their economic, commercial, and tourism relations with the formalization of a new memorandum of understanding on air transport. The agreement, which seeks to enhance mobility and connectivity between the two nations, was recently finalized after months of collaborative work between their civil aviation authorities and foreign ministries.

The initiative aims to foster closer ties by facilitating easier access to both countries, thereby boosting tourism, business, and cultural exchanges. Salvadoran Vice-Chancellor Adriana Mira expressed that the agreement «symbolizes our shared will to move forward together» and emphasized that air transport will serve as both a means of mobility and a catalyst for mutual progress and opportunities.

The memorandum lays the groundwork for future cooperation between airlines from both nations, promoting equality and reciprocity in the aviation sector. This cooperation is expected to open new avenues for business, particularly in tourism, trade, and the transportation of goods and people.

Homero Morales, Executive Director of El Salvador’s Civil Aviation Authority (AAC), described the agreement as «very valuable» for both nations’ air transport sectors. The Bahamian Ambassador to Central America, Sebastian J. Bastian, also celebrated the partnership, noting that it marks the beginning of a «new bond of collaboration.»

El Salvador has long been an advocate for international connectivity, with 22 open skies agreements signed with various countries across Central America, North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. Ten of these agreements have been ratified during the presidency of Nayib Bukele, underscoring the country’s growing commitment to enhancing global air transport and connectivity.

Through this collaboration, both El Salvador and the Bahamas look to build bridges that will strengthen their bilateral relations and create new opportunities for their people and economies.
