President Bukele: Eradicating Gangs Key to El Salvador’s 3.5% GDP Growth.

President Nayib Bukele shared a powerful message through a video posted on his X account, emphasizing the critical role of eradicating gangs and crime in fostering economic growth in El Salvador.

In the video, President Bukele explained how criminal structures, through extortion and other illicit activities, previously robbed honest Salvadorans of their hard-earned money. To address this, the government took decisive action to capture gang members, not as a form of punishment, but to remove them from society and restore peace to the nation.

Bukele proudly highlighted the unexpected outcome of these efforts, stating, “We calculated that our GDP was going to fall due to ending crime, our GDP did not fall 10%, it rose 3.5%.” This growth reflects the positive impact of the security measures on the country’s overall economy.

Under President Bukele’s leadership, El Salvador has seen a transformation in both public safety and economic stability. The government’s continued focus on dismantling criminal organizations has not only improved security but also paved the way for a stronger and more prosperous future for all Salvadoran families.
