President Bukele Responds to the Tragic Deaths of Three Workers in Los Chorros Landslide.

President Nayib Bukele has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic death of three workers in a landslide at kilometer 18½ of the Los Chorros highway. The victims, identified as Alexander Rigoberto Ágreda, Juan Castro Recinos, and Alexander Lue, tragically lost their lives in the incident.

In a statement, President Bukele conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, offering solidarity during this difficult time. “We regret to report the death of Alexander Rigoberto Ágreda, Juan Castro Recinos, and Alexander Lue, after the landslide. To their families, we send our most sincere condolences,” he said.

Emergency teams worked swiftly to rescue José Román Calderón, who was injured in the landslide and is now receiving specialized medical care.

President Bukele also announced that a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine the causes of the incident, including potential liability of the Korean company Dongbu Corporation, which is overseeing the project. «We will not rest until we have clarified the facts, guaranteed compensation for the affected families, and taken all necessary measures to prevent something similar from happening again,» Bukele assured.

In the meantime, Dongbu Corporation has offered $50,000, along with the full coverage of funeral expenses, to each of the affected families. The investigation and legal processes are still ongoing.
