El Salvador continues to make remarkable strides in public security, recording 10 days with zero homicides so far this month, according to official data released by the National Civil Police (PNC) on Tuesday morning.
The most recent of these zero-homicide days was Monday, November 11, marking the tenth such day in November. The country’s homicide-free days this month include November 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, and 11. This achievement follows a trend that has seen the country maintain a relatively low rate of violence in recent years.
With a total of 234 days without homicides so far in 2024, El Salvador continues to build on its success in reducing violent crime, a key goal of President Nayib Bukele’s administration. The country has now reached an impressive 752 days without homicides since President Bukele took office, with 639 of those days occurring during the state of exception, which has been in effect since March 2022.
The success is largely attributed to the combination of the state of exception and the Territorial Control Plan, which was implemented in 2019. These initiatives have been instrumental in driving down violence levels and have contributed to positioning El Salvador as one of the safest countries in the Western Hemisphere.
As the government continues to focus on security and anti-crime measures, El Salvador’s achievements in reducing homicides underscore the effectiveness of its security strategies and the ongoing efforts to improve public safety across the nation.
