The Fintech Association of El Salvador (Asafintech) is set to hold the El Salvador Fintech Forum on October 3rd at the Hilton Hotel in San Salvador. This event aims to explore the latest trends and innovations in the fintech sector, with a particular focus on the country’s advancements in bitcoin and digital asset initiatives.
Bringing together experts, entrepreneurs, and regulators, the forum will provide a platform for sharing experiences, knowledge, and best practices in financial technology. Fintech companies leverage technology to enhance financial services, offering innovative solutions in areas such as digital payments, cryptocurrencies, credit, and insurance.
El Salvador has emerged as a unique case study in the fintech landscape, particularly after the introduction of the Bitcoin Law and the Assets Law, which have accelerated the growth of startups by providing regulatory clarity and tax benefits. Asafintech currently boasts around 80 member firms, with 60% focused on payment services, 20% on technological solutions, 4% on insurtech, and 8% on alternative financing. Notably, 88% of these startups plan to launch new products and services.
Erick Chacón, president of Asafintech, emphasized the importance of this forum, stating, “The fintech revolution is a reality that is redefining how we interact with financial services. It is crucial that El Salvador be at the forefront of this transformation to promote economic growth and financial inclusion.”
Success stories such as Ditobanx—a Salvadoran startup that recently introduced a Mastercard debit card enabling transactions with bitcoin and stablecoin—will be highlighted. The forum will feature discussions led by prominent figures, including Douglas Rodríguez, president of the Central Reserve Bank (BCR), along with regional fintech representatives and international speakers.
Participants can look forward to discussion panels, specialized workshops, and networking opportunities designed to foster strategic alliances and business prospects.
