El Salvador Engages in Global Nuclear Discussions, Aims for Sustainable Energy Future.

For the first time in its history, El Salvador participated in the 68th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Represented by the Director General of Energy, Hydrocarbons, and Mines, Daniel Álvarez, the country reaffirmed its commitment to advancing peaceful nuclear energy.

Speaking before representatives from over 170 member countries, Álvarez highlighted the nation’s efforts to diversify its energy matrix. “Under the leadership of President Nayib Bukele, we are working to reduce our reliance on external resources, protect the environment, and improve the quality of life for all Salvadorans,” he said during his address.

Álvarez further emphasized El Salvador’s dedication to incorporating nuclear energy into its energy portfolio, adhering to international standards, and upholding the treaties the country has ratified with the IAEA.

The participation of El Salvador in this global event marks a significant step towards adopting sustainable energy solutions and strengthening its energy independence.
