The Ministry of Public Works (MOPT) has completed the renovation of three sports fields at the University of El Salvador (UES), marking a significant step in the government’s plan to upgrade athletic facilities across the country.
Minister Romeo Herrera announced the delivery of fields numbered 13, 14, and 15, which include an indoor soccer field, a beach soccer field, and a basketball court. The renovations involved enlarging the fields to meet regulatory standards, installing new goals, upgrading the drainage system, laying fresh grass, and repainting and rebuilding the stands.
“We have finished working on 20 fields, with 12 already delivered. One of several fields delivered is the one in Villas de Zaragoza in the department of La Libertad and today’s delivery at UES is a crucial addition,” said Herrera. He highlighted that the work on the indoor soccer field and beach soccer field included expansions to ensure compliance with regulations, and similar improvements were made to the basketball court.
The MOPT’s renovation project is part of a broader initiative to deliver 100 renovated sports fields to communities throughout El Salvador. Future upgrades are planned for additional locations, including San Miguel, Santa Ana, San Vicente, and San Luis Talpa.
The enhancements aim to provide improved sports facilities for Salvadorans, fostering better recreational and competitive opportunities across the nation.
