In a significant step towards supporting road accident survivors, the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Program has unveiled its new job pool initiative today. The program aims to provide meaningful employment opportunities for individuals who have sustained permanent disabilities as a result of traffic accidents.
The launch event featured Paola Bardi, Director of the National Fund for Traffic Accident Victims (FONAT), and Nelson Reyes, Vice Minister of Transportation. Both officials emphasized the initiative’s potential to significantly improve the quality of life for those affected by severe road accidents.
According to recent data from the Road Safety Observatory (Onasevi), 60% of individuals injured in road accidents this year have experienced serious or very serious injuries. The job pool is designed to address the challenges faced by these individuals by connecting them with potential employers who are committed to inclusive hiring practices.
“This job pool is more than just an employment initiative; it is a lifeline for those whose lives have been irrevocably changed by traffic accidents,” said Bardi. “It also fosters a crucial link between entrepreneurs and a dedicated workforce that is often overlooked.”
Vice Minister Reyes highlighted the broader scope of the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Program, which encompasses not only the rehabilitation of accident victims but also a comprehensive approach to road safety. “We are tackling the entire road safety cycle—from the design, construction, and maintenance of public roads to ensuring proper signage and providing support for accident victims,” Reyes explained.
The introduction of this job pool marks a hopeful development in the ongoing effort to enhance the lives of those who have endured severe injuries and to promote a more inclusive and supportive community.
