In a significant step to enhance notarial and diplomatic services, the Government of El Salvador has forged a new inter-institutional agreement between the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The agreement was signed by CSJ President Óscar Alberto López Jerez and Foreign Minister Juana Alexandra Hill Tinoco.

The collaboration aims to bolster the notarial work conducted by diplomatic and consular officials, as well as the technical staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This agreement will foster cooperation in both technical and operational realms, with the CSJ committing to provide comprehensive training to heads of diplomatic missions, consular officials, and ministry personnel. A focus will be placed on managing protocol books and updating notarial guidelines.
In exchange, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will offer CSJ staff insights into the structure and functions of diplomatic and consular services, alongside providing essential physical and technological resources. Additionally, specialized technical support for consular services will be part of the Ministry’s contribution.
This indefinite agreement represents a strategic move to enhance the technical capabilities of both institutions in handling notarial and diplomatic affairs. The signing ceremony was attended by Vice Minister of Diaspora and Human Mobility Cindy Mariella Portal, along with other key representatives from both the CSJ and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
