University of El Salvador Receives New and Renovated Buildings.

To boost higher education infrastructure, the government of President Nayib Bukele has delivered twelve new buildings and renovated thirteen others at the University of El Salvador. The modernized facilities, part of the Villa Centroamericana y del Caribe, are now available for use by the university community, providing state-of-the-art spaces for educational purposes.

Romeo Herrera, the Minister of Public Works and Transportation, formally handed over the facilities. These buildings were initially used for competitions and housing delegations during the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games held in San Salvador from June 23 to July 8, 2023.

«President Bukele directed the construction of these buildings at the University of El Salvador to serve the students as classrooms or for any other purposes. Previously, there was nothing in this area. We have constructed twelve new buildings and improved thirteen others, including the installation of air conditioning, false ceilings, and bathrooms,» stated Herrera.

The government’s efforts at the university covered an extensive 395,665.78 square meters, involving the renovation of a total of 25 buildings, including exterior works and circulation areas. Additionally, improvements have been made to the football, basketball, and beach soccer fields, ensuring they meet regulatory standards.

These upgrades are not limited to new constructions but also include the installation of air conditioning, false ceilings, new desks, and whiteboards.

«In total, we have invested approximately $50 million in all the works carried out,» Herrera detailed.

With these facilities, President Bukele’s government reaffirms its commitment to public higher education, ensuring that students at the University of El Salvador have dignified spaces for their professional development.
