El Salvador’s Strategic Energy Shift: Going Nuclear.

In a recent visit to Vienna, Austria, Vice Chancellor Adriana Mira of El Salvador held a significant meeting with Rafael MarianoGrossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

During the encounter, Vice Chancellor Mira emphasized El Salvador’s commitment to enhancing energy security to drive growth across various productive sectors. «El Salvador is steadfast in its efforts to bolster energy security, aiming to fuel momentum across diverse economic domains,» stated the official.

Furthermore, Vice Chancellor Mira extended gratitude for the cooperation extended by the IAEA in strengthening the capacities of national experts in areas such as public health, environmental management in response to climate change, and radiological protection.

«El Salvador is dedicated to decarbonization, diversifying its energy matrix, and harnessing peaceful nuclear applications,» noted Rafael MarianoGrossi. He underscored the importance of receiving legal instruments from Vice Chancellor Adriana Mira and Daniel Álvarez of the General Directorate of Hydrocarbons and Mines, facilitating the safe utilization of nuclear energy.

The meeting marks a significant step towards fostering bilateral cooperation between El Salvador and the IAEA, underscoring shared commitments towards sustainable development and energy security.

Both parties expressed optimism for future collaborations aimed at harnessing the potential of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes while prioritizing safety and environmental stewardship.
