This morning marked a significant step towards advancing El Salvador’s digital landscape as Daniel Méndez, the Secretary of the Ministry of Innovation, and Javier Marín, the partner at Numu-BeDisruptive for Latin America and the Caribbean, jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement aims to bolster the country’s Digital Security Innovation Ecosystem.
The collaboration between the Government of El Salvador and the Numu-BeDisruptive consortium is poised to strengthen the nation’s ongoing digitization efforts. Secretary Daniel Méndez expressed gratitude for the consortium’s support, highlighting the government’s strides in innovation and digitalization.
A key highlight of this partnership is the formulation of a governance model for implementing a National Cybersecurity Strategy and an Artificial Intelligence National Policy. These strategic initiatives are expected to elevate El Salvador’s capabilities in managing cybersecurity challenges and leveraging artificial intelligence for national development.
Furthermore, the MoU empowers the Salvadoran government to roll out a cybersecurity and artificial intelligence awareness program, fostering a culture of digital responsibility among the populace.
“We are entering into a cooperation agreement with Numu-BeDisruptive to address various aspects of digitization and cybersecurity, which are essential factors for our population,” stated Daniel Méndez.
Emphasizing the need to fortify capacities and employ cutting-edge technology to safeguard data and information, Méndez added, “We must strengthen various capabilities and tools, utilize the best technology to protect the data and information of our population, and develop the necessary capacities for industries looking to establish themselves in the country.”
“This agreement we are signing opens doors for us to forge alliances and work on digital and cybersecurity issues, not only to enhance government capabilities in the public sector but also to cater to the needs of the private sector,” concluded Daniel Méndez.
The collaboration between the Salvadoran government and Numu-BeDisruptive holds promise for a digitally resilient and secure future, fostering a conducive environment for both public and private entities to thrive in the ever-evolving landscape of technology and innovation.
