In a promising development for El Salvador’s economic landscape, the renowned Peruvian textile giant, Grupo Gomelast, has set its sights on investing and operating in the country. A delegation from the company recently arrived, actively scouting physical locations to kickstart their business endeavors and gain a deeper understanding of El Salvador.
The move aligns with a growing trend of foreign enterprises expressing interest in establishing operations within Salvadoran borders. Grupo Gomelast, with its 65-year legacy in the textile industry, is spearheading this surge.
This week, Adriana Mira, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, warmly welcomed the Peruvian delegation, accompanied by El Salvador’s diplomatic representative in Peru, Pablo Caballero. During the meeting, Mira emphasized the government’s commitment to becoming a valuable ally, facilitating the seamless establishment and successful execution of projects for companies like Grupo Gomelast. This aligns with President Nayib Bukele’s directive to support and attract new investments to the country.
“We are thrilled that foreign companies, such as yours, believe in our nation and are committed to investing. We stand ready to assist, consider us as an additional ally to help you establish and thrive in this new venture,” expressed Deputy Minister Mira.
Ygo Borgman, the CEO of Grupo Gomelast, confirmed the company’s plans to invest and establish a presence in El Salvador, citing favorable conditions and the nation’s potential for productive projects and business ventures. The focus currently lies on identifying suitable physical spaces for their business operations, with joint efforts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Invest El Salvador to assist in this crucial aspect.
“We have experienced excellent collaboration and support from the very beginning. We feel well attended to and acknowledge the efficiency of both the Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” stated Borgman.
Grupo Gomelast, known for its sustainable and environmentally friendly approach, operates in two other countries on the continent, producing a diverse range of items for well-known brands. Their interest in El Salvador has garnered support not only from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but also from the Embassy of El Salvador in Peru, marking a positive step towards the imminent commencement of operations in the country.
As El Salvador opens its doors to foreign investors, Grupo Gomelast’s entry symbolizes a mutually beneficial partnership, contributing to economic growth, job creation, and the continued strengthening of diplomatic ties between Peru and El Salvador.
