El Salvador’s Historic Infrastructure Investment Under President Nayib Bukele.

In what is being hailed as a monumental achievement, the government of El Salvador, under the leadership of President Nayib Bukele, has executed the most substantial infrastructure investment in the nation’s history. The impact of these projects is not only transforming the country’s transportation and logistics sectors but is also enhancing its competitiveness on a global scale.

Minister of Public Works, Romeo Herrera, proudly stated, “The government of President Nayib Bukele is responsible for the largest infrastructure investment in El Salvador’s history, and we can witness its manifestation in various ongoing and completed projects.”

In the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Ministry of Public Works intervened in all 30 public hospitals, aiming to enhance their facilities. Simultaneously, a significant endeavor was the construction and adaptation of the three-phase El Salvador Hospital.

The minister emphasized the diversity of these projects, citing landmark achievements such as the Surf City Bypass, Claudia Lars Perimeter, and three out of four phases of the Gerardo Barrios Perimeter. Additionally, completed projects include the Utila Roundabout Underpass, with ongoing ones like the UNICAES Roundabout Underpass in Santa Ana and the Multilevel Roundabout Integration, connecting San Salvador, Apopa, Nejapa, and Quezaltepeque.

“Over 100 traffic managers will be deployed solely on the Los Chorros highway to monitor and streamline traffic during the construction,” Minister Herrera disclosed.

He also highlighted the commencement of work on the Francisco Morazán Viaduct in the Los Chorros section. Initial efforts include constructing access points for building the viaduct’s supports.

Furthermore, the minister revealed the initiation of the first phases of widening the Pan-American Highway to six lanes from El Poliedro in Colón Municipality to Sitio del Niño in San Juan Opico Municipality.

The scale and diversity of these infrastructure projects signify a commitment to El Salvador’s progress and development, showcasing President Nayib Bukele’s dedication to the nation’s prosperity. As these ventures unfold, the impact on the country’s economy and global standing is expected to be profound.
