Towards fostering social, sustainable tourism practices in the Central American region, the Government of El Salvador is proudly hosting the II Social, Solidarity, and Sustainable Tourism Forum.
Expressing gratitude to the collaboration between the Salvadoran Ministry of Tourism and the Salvadoran Tourism Institute (ISTU), Ligia Fátima Miranda, the Executive Secretary of the Central American Integration System (SICA), emphasized the forum’s role in paving the way for inclusive and responsible tourism.
“I would like to thank the Government, represented by the Ministry of Tourism and ISTU, for their tireless collaboration in making this event a reality. This forum is a crucial step towards inclusive and responsible tourism,” said Ligia Fátima Miranda.
Sergio Rodríguez, President of ISTO Americas, commended El Salvador’s initiative in organizing the forum, stating, “It is a pleasure to welcome you to El Salvador, a fantastic destination. We celebrate the government’s initiative in organizing this forum.” Rodriguez stressed the necessity of considering various aspects of tourism and highlighted the forum as the ideal space for such discussions.
The specific objective of the forum is to share experiences, aiming to strengthen social tourism in the participating countries of the region and the Dominican Republic.
“The goal of this forum is not only to learn from others but also to get to know them and recommend them,” stated Morena Valdez, the head of the Ministry of Tourism.
Underlining the significance of solidarity and sustainability as fundamental pillars of tourism practices, the forum brings together countries like Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. Additionally, distinguished speakers from Mexico and Chile contribute to the enriching dialogue.
As El Salvador takes center stage, it consolidates its position as the epicenter of the II Social, Solidarity, and Sustainable Tourism Forum in 2023. This forum stands as a testament to the nation’s commitment to fostering responsible tourism practices that benefit both the industry and the communities involved.
