The Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA), or Autonomous Executive Port Commission, proudly declared El Salvador as the primary maritime hub connecting with the global economy through their official Twitter account.
Between the start of the year and August 20th, 2023, CEPA reported that El Salvador achieved a remarkable feat by managing the exchange of approximately 3.5 million metric tons of commodities. This significant accomplishment underscores the nation’s pivotal role in international trade.
On a separate note, the introduction of the maritime commercial corridor facilitated by the Blue Wave Ferry represents a game-changing opportunity for El Salvador’s import and export landscape. This initiative is set to drastically enhance the flow of goods and commerce.
The Blue Wave Harmony Ferry is poised to rejuvenate operations at the Port of La Unión, serving as a catalyst for the dynamism of imports and exports between El Salvador and Costa Rica. By shortening the transit time for goods between the two countries from five days to a mere 18 hours, this ferry will significantly expedite trade processes. Additionally, it will streamline customs procedures, reducing the number of steps from eight to two. As a result, the initiative is expected to alleviate road congestion and offer numerous other advantages.
The successful implementation of the Blue Wave Ferry not only showcases El Salvador’s commitment to facilitating trade but also solidifies its status as a vital link in the global supply chain. As the nation continues to invest in innovative infrastructure, it propels itself into an even more prominent role on the international trade stage.
