Within the framework of the 43rd edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2023, the Digital Journalist, one of the most important newspapers in Spain, held the third edition of its Travelers Awards, where it awarded El Salvador as a result of the press trips 2022, organized by the Central American Tourism Promotion Agency (CATA, for its acronym in English).
During the award gala, El Salvador was recognized as “A jewel to be discovered”, an award that highlights the country’s diverse tourism offer, which is leveraged by a government strategy aimed at generating economic growth through this category.

The agency reported that the words of the Digital Journalist Group, which preceded the award ceremony, described the current favorable climate for the development of tourism in the Central American country, where the offer of beaches, mountains, and towns stands out due to the new security conditions promoted by the government of President Nayib Bukele.
According to the Central American organization, the award was received by the Ambassador of El Salvador in Spain, Mauricio Peñate, from the Communications Director of Periodista Digital, Ana Rojo.
«The country, which day by day gains recognition on the international stage for becoming a world platform for surfing, was on the list of award-winning destinations along with Quintana Roo (Mexico); Egypt, Jordan; among others”, revealed CATA.
The entity also explained that the press trips are organized by CATA in close coordination with the region’s tourism authorities, with the purpose of promoting the tourism product and positioning the image of Central America, through the generation of reports, articles, photo reports, videos, and other products in the main international press media.
